Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA) started in 1967 as a non-making profit institution that has produced thousands of professional artists, musicians and designers to meet the competent industry’s need. The institute offers a range of 3-year Diploma courses in art, design and music field. With 42 years of experience, the institute makes every effort to ensure the students maximize their potential for national development. The institute enhances the scope of learning among its students. The institute is committed to train creative, innovative, skilled, and confident graduates who will contribute to the local creative industry.

MIA endeavors to strive for creative excellence by training competent artists, designers and musicians capable of contributing to the local creative industry, provide talented man-power for the nation, promote the study of art history, principles of art and aspects of culture besides equipping the students with necessary of knowledge of arts, humanities and ICT for future career development.

The Foundation Studies Department of MIA was established to train the students with a strong foundation, techniques, methods and skills before advancing to Diploma programme. MIA requires all the Diploma students to complete the first semester in Foundation Studies. Among some of the Diploma courses offered in MIA are Graphic Design, Fine Art, Illustration, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Music and Fashion & Textile.

MIA has a proven track record in education as some of their graduates have won numerous awards such as MIECO Designer’s award, Piala Seri Endon Batik Design Competition 2007, Art Major Asian (AMA) 2006 Full Scholarship Awards, Installation Design Competition and many more.
