Five Arts Centre

Five Arts Centre is another centre in Malaysia founded to promote arts development in a broader sense as the scope includes dance, music, visual arts and theatre. Established in 1984, the centre was founded by theatre directors, Chin San Sooi and Krishen Jit as well as dancer-choreographer, Marion D’Cruz. Over the last 25 years, Five Arts is the leading centre to create experimental and intercultural work allowing younger generation to showcase their talents.
To nurture appreciation and nurture awareness among younger generation, members of the centre have performed on different stages including dance clubs, universities, colleges, squatter areas, parks, futsal centres, art galleries, theatres and even on the street. The objective is to create word-of-mouth and buzz among members of the public. So far, the centre has produced more than 90 plays, nine music concerts, seven visual art events and 13 dance productions. Five Arts Centre has also performed in other countries such as Hong Kong, Berlin, Cairo, Manchester, Japan and Singapore.
